Bread for the Journey of Denver

"Don't think a small group cannot change the world. Indeed, it is the only way it has ever happened."
-Margaret Meade

Bread for the Journey, Denver chapter, is affiliated with the national organization of Bread for the Journey which started in Santa Fe in 1988 by Rev. Wayne Muller (www.breadforthejourney.org) and now is headquartered in Mill Valley, California. The original concept of BFJ was to find peple who were excited about helping their community and assist them in making their vision happen. The Santa Fe organization was able to help people start cooperatives, mentoring programs, youth programs, and AIDS projects by supporting people who had a desire to help their communities. By receiving a small grant from Bread for the Journey of Santa Fe, people in northern New Mexico were able to realize their dreams.

Recently, many local chapters of Bread for the Journey have begun throughout the country as a result of individuals wanting to take this unique concept and apply it in their local communiites. The Denver Group started in the winter of 2000- 2001. Since that time we have given more then 38 small grants to groups and organizations in the Denver metro area.
